У Roma CEREBRAL PALSY. Overcoming many difficulties along the way, the boy successfully fought spasticity on his own until he became a teenager. Due to active growth, the spasticity became very severe. Roma was in need of SPML surgery. Thanks to your support we were able to raise 17 600 € for the boy's treatment with Dr. Bernius at American Hospital (Tbilisi). The surgery took place on June 13 and was successful.
Alexandra, Roma's mom, writes:
On June 13, Roman underwent SPML surgery - myofasciotomy, dissection of shortened fasciae. The plan was to make 16 punctures on the left arm and leg. The operation lasted about 40 minutes and was successful, after which Roma was immediately put in a plastic cast, which can be removed. He will have to wear it for the next 6 weeks. On the next day we started physical therapy, and on the 3rd day Roma started to walk. It is very important for Roma, because it is very difficult to make a lying walking and active child. Changes for the better are noticeable already now. Roma constantly talks about new sensations and shares them. He is getting used to it. Dr. Peter said that Roma is making very good progress. For me, as a mom, these are the most cherished words!
Friends, thank you each and every one of you so much for helping Roma.
Special thanks go to Trinity Private School, which organized the «Good at Christmas» charity fair in support of Roma, and to Daria Lipatova, who helped close the boy's collection.
We wish Roma a speedy recovery and look forward to hearing about his new accomplishments.
Make a difference in the lives of children together!
