Dima is the long-awaited second child in the family. The pregnancy went without complications, all the tests were normal, and the parents were expecting a perfectly healthy baby. But immediately after birth it became noticeable that something was wrong: unusual shape of the head, restless behavior, lack of sleep, severe jaundice and other alarming signs. However, the doctors at the maternity hospital did not pay much attention to this.

Desperately seeking help, the parents turned to specialists in Samara, but the diagnosis could only be made in Moscow. The neurosurgeon and craniofacial surgeon told them the terrible news: Dima has craniostenosis and craniofacial dysostosis - premature overgrowth of the suture between the parietal bones of the skull. Because of this, there is not enough room for his growing brain, which threatens severe neurological disorders, deterioration of vision and hearing.

When Dima was two months old, he had his first surgery in Russia. It did not help - on the contrary, it only worsened the situation. At one year old, the boy had a second operation at the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital, but the complications were so serious that his recovery was long and difficult.

The parents did not give up and continued their search for a doctor who could save their son's health. Their hope was Dr. Jeffrey Firon from Craniofacial Center (Dallas, USA), one of the leading specialists in cranioplasty.

On March 21, 2023, Dr. Firon performed a complex neurosurgical operation, enlarging the front part of the boy's skull. Now Dima's brain and optic nerves have space for full development. The surgery was a success!
