Makolkin
Dima Makolkin was born an absolutely healthy child. He developed fully and constantly pleased his parents with his new achievements.
But at the age of two, the boy became seriously ill with serous meningitis, which took away his carefree and happy childhood, and in return brought many trials that Dima had to go through.
Serous meningitis is an inflammatory disease of the brain. Faced with it in 2015, the boy managed to escape from its shackles several times. But constant relapses, which happened to Dima every time he stopped taking antibiotics, gradually worsened his general condition.
The relapse that occurred in 2019 gave serious complications: Dima could not hold his head, his arms and legs became weak, and he could barely manage his breathing. Doctors had to connect the boy to a ventilator, install a gastrostomy and later a tracheostomy, through which he was connected to a ventilator for a long time.
When Dima regained consciousness, he needed rehabilitation. With their own efforts, the parents found a hospital that agreed to accept the boy for further treatment. Thanks to the efforts of intensive care doctors, Dima was taken off the ventilator and began breathing through a tracheostomy.
After that, the boy underwent several courses of rehabilitation, which helped to significantly improve his condition and even get rid of the gastrostomy. That was a real victory. But the main one was still waiting ahead.
In order to return to his former life, Dima needed to have his tracheostomy removed. Such operations are performed in Russia, but his case was special: the narrowing of the airways was due to tracheomalacia, and they could not help him here. Doctors at the Israeli clinic Suraski were ready to perform the necessary surgical treatment as soon as the family raised 37,854 $.
Thanks to your support, the necessary amount was collected and Dima went for treatment.
