Eldar

On July 10, 2018, an adorable baby boy Eldar was born in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) by Caesarean section. He was born with a pathology: at birth, doctors diagnosed the boy with spina bifida.
Spina bifida is a congenital developmental defect of the spinal cord and spine. There are several types of this disease, Eldar has lipomeningocele, an anomaly in which fatty tissue is attached to the spinal cord and puts pressure on it. At the age of two months, Eldar underwent a complex surgery at the Children's Clinical City Hospital. It gave the boy back sensation in his legs, but could not save him from spinal cord fixation and further deterioration.
Eldar's right leg suffers from a deformity: it is 1 centimeter longer than his left leg and one size larger. Children with such pathology usually cannot walk, but Eldar even ran and played soccer. He confidently scored goals and sincerely dreamed that after the surgery his leg would become straight, and then he would be able to change his special sneakers for ordinary white ones, just like his younger brother's.
The process of deterioration of Eldar's health had to be stopped. His spinal cord was fixed, and the deformation of his left leg could happen at any moment. In such a case, the boy risked losing the ability to walk.
To avoid this, Eldar needed two serious operations: neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery. Doctors at Assuta Clinic are ready to save him from a wheelchair, but the cost of treatment is 100,000 $ - an unaffordable sum for his family.
Our foundation responded and raised €10,000 for the boy. Together with other foundations and kind hearts we did our best to get Eldar to the life-saving treatment in time. The total amount of treatment amounted to 78,638 $.
On July 7, 2023, Dr. Shimon Rohkind of Assuta Clinic successfully performed neurosurgery, freeing the boy's spinal cord from roots and abnormal tissue.
On July 18, 2023, Eldar underwent orthopedic surgery, which was also successful. Now the boy is not in danger of disability. He will walk, and we sincerely hope that one day he will be able to run again.
Thank you to everyone who lent a helping hand - you gave Eldar a chance to start a new life!
