Evelina
Kolmakova
Evelina Kolmakova is a favorite, long-awaited and the only child in the family.
The girl was born at term but suffered severe hypoxia due to incorrect labor management tactics. Unfortunately, her brain was damaged.
From the very first months of life, the parents actively followed all the recommendations of neurologists: they gave their daughter massage courses with elements of physical therapy, physiotherapy, medication, took the girl to the Czech Republic for Vota therapy. But they could not avoid what they were so much afraid of.
When Evelina was one year and two months old, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, tetraparesis, and given a disability. Since then, not a day has passed without the girl practicing at home or on intensive rehabilitation courses in specialized centers.
She works like a professional athlete! She is driven by the dream of learning to dance like a ballerina.
In September, Evelina underwent spinal cord neurosurgery to correct spasticity at St. Louis Children's Hospital in the United States. The surgery went well, but her outcome at 70 % depended on further rehabilitation. Therefore, Evelina needed to get to the Olinek Intensive Care Center as soon as possible, where highly qualified specialists help her to recover previously acquired skills and learn new ones, but without spasticity in her legs.
Thanks to your support we managed to raise 5450 € for two rehabilitation courses for Evelina. The girl has already completed one of them and has become much stronger. The second course of rehabilitation at the Olinek intensive care center was scheduled for August 2022.
