Irina Patoska is the younger sister of Salomiya Patoska. The girls are united not only by kinship, but also by the struggle for a healthy future. Irina has the same rare and insidious diagnosis of moyamoya.

«It was in the spring of 2021. Ira and I went to the temple, and as we crossed the threshold, she suddenly fell - her legs failed. The symptoms were very similar to those of Salomiya. We went to the hospital, but instead of help from the doctor, we got a referral to a therapist. She claimed that her daughter was faking her sister's behavior.

When Salomiya was diagnosed with moyamoya, Maryana literally begged the doctors to conduct the same examination for Ira, but in response she heard that such a diagnosis cannot occur in two children in the same family. It occurs in one person in 2 million. Unfortunately, after an MRI scan, Ira's diagnosis of moyamoya was also confirmed.

Thanks to people who cared, the family managed to raise funds for the first operation. In April 2025, Professor Nadia Khan at Children's Hospital Moyamoya Center (Zurich) gave Ira the most complicated treatment and repaired 2 out of 4 brain vessels damaged by the disease. But after the surgery, Ira is recovering worse than her sister. One of the stitches is not healing well. In May, a terrible thing happened - a 30-minute ischemic attack. The girl's brain was in great danger. It was urgent for her to get to the second stage of treatment.

Thanks to the help of a generous foundation donor, we were able to close Ira's collection in a timely manner.

Ira's surgery took place on August 15, 2025 and lasted 7 hours. The professor made two trepanations and operated on 2 cerebral vessels. Now the probability of a stroke due to the diagnosis of moyamoya in the girl is minimized.
