Vanya was born healthy and developed fully. However, at the age of five, he was diagnosed with a white line hernia - a pathological condition of the abdominal wall muscles, in which they diverge along the midline and part of the internal organs bulge outwards.

In July 2015, the boy underwent surgery at the Children's Hospital No. 9 in Sochi. It was then that Vanya's life was divided into «before» and «after». Due to the doctor's mistake, there was an overdose of anesthesia, which led to the death of part of the brain cells. As a result, the blood circulation of the brain and spinal cord was disrupted, and severe complications appeared, which are still evident today.

Vanya underwent many courses of treatment, but it was not possible to stop the process of health deterioration. Now he has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, Arnold-Chiari syndrome, and a defect in the anterior cranial fossa, which causes cerebrospinal fluid to enter the nasopharynx.

The latter diagnosis is particularly dangerous: at any moment bacterial meningitis can develop, which threatens the boy's life. Doctors in Russia did everything they could, but they were unable to help definitively.

Vanya's mother, Eugenia, kept searching for specialists and found one who was ready to try to save her son. Professor Yonatan Roth from the Ikhilov Clinic (Israel) agreed to conduct an examination, based on the results of which he had to make a decision: to close the defect of the anterior cranial fossa or to install a shunt to normalize intracranial pressure.

The cost of the examination was 35,610 $ - an unaffordable sum for Eugenia, who is raising three children alone.

Friends, thanks to your caring hearts, we were able to successfully raise the missing amount for Vanya.

On June 1, 2023, Dr. Yonatan Roth performed a surgery on Vanya in which he placed a double-valve shunt system. This system prevents excessive liquor from collecting in the head and being discharged into the abdomen. The operation was a success.
