Melania
Zlatina
Melania Zlatina was born on October 19, 2016 in the city of Yevpatoria. Already on the second day of life, October 20, the little girl underwent surgery to excise a spinal hernia - a diagnosis of Spina bifida. The parents remember the first meeting with the baby as a special moment: she was lying motionless, and it was only visible how her tummy inflates when breathing. Despite the many tubes, sensors and fixation bandages, the parents felt confident that everything would be fine. The first stage of treatment was successfully completed.
In spring 2017, a world-renowned Israeli neurosurgeon, Prof. Shimon Rohkind, came to Krasnodar. He examined Melania and recommended spinal cord release surgery at Assuta Clinic (Israel), which was performed in June 2017. In the fall of the same year, thanks to your support, the girl underwent a rehabilitation course at the Adeli Clinic (Slovakia), where she became much stronger and made a great leap in development.
The doctors recommended another rehabilitation course in May 2018. Thanks to your support we managed to raise 4692 € to pay for the second course.
Parents' appreciation
Dear Wizards and Sorceresses!
A new course of intensive rehabilitation at the AdeliMedicalCenter Neurorehabilitation Center has brought great progress in Melania's development. The leading specialists of the center are convinced that Melania will walk! During the 5 weeks of the rehabilitation course Melania practiced hard: by the middle of the course she was standing on her own feet and by the end of the course her leg muscles, spinal muscular corset and abdominal muscles were noticeably stronger.
There is still a lot of work ahead and a long road of recovery after four difficult surgeries. We are truly grateful to you for helping us through this ordeal and bringing us closer to our daughter's recovery. Thank you for your kind hearts!
