Nariman
Bakytzhan
During the entire pregnancy, the parents were expecting a perfectly healthy baby - all tests and ultrasounds were normal. The family found out about the pathology only after Nariman was born.
At the age of three months, the baby underwent a very complicated surgery to remove a spinal hernia and close a skin defect in Astana, Kazakhstan. He was diagnosed with spina bifida, myelomeningocele, urinary and bowel dysfunction.
Now the boy is 15 years old, despite numerous rehabilitation courses, Nariman's disease is progressing - the ability to walk is limited, the work of the urinary and intestinal systems is deteriorating, contractures of toes on both legs and hypotrophy in the lower legs are observed.
Nariman's mom is raising her three sons alone. Thanks to your kind hearts, we were able to help her raise the missing amount for her son's treatment.
On July 11, 2025, Nariman underwent a complex neurosurgical operation that lasted 8 hours at Assuta Hospital in Israel. Prof. Shimon Rohkind carefully separated and freed the spinal roots from fusions with soft tissues.
Immediately after the operation, inspiring results appeared: the right leg started to show very good signals (at the level of 1000, whereas in athletes it is about 2000), and the left leg showed a slight improvement. In addition, weak signals from the urinary system appeared. According to Prof. Rohkind, this is a very good result.
A huge thank you to everyone who responded and helped Nariman get to this life-saving treatment on time.
