Safia
Balgabay
Safiya is from the town of Arys (Turkestan region of Kazakhstan). Safiya's right foot has been deformed since birth. The spinal cord is fixed. The insidious diagnosis of spina bifida, a congenital malformation of the spine, is to blame for everything.
When Safiya was born, her mother immediately noticed a lump in her daughter's lower back. It was a spinal hernia. Doctors diagnosed spina bifida and recommended that the girl undergo surgery when she grew up a little.
The parents were not able to make up their minds to have the tiny baby girl undergo surgical treatment right away, but when Safiya was one and a half years old, they took this important step. Safiya underwent surgical treatment at the children's hospital in Almaty. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. The girl immediately developed complications, and two days later she had to be operated on again.
The second operation did not yield the expected results. Safia's spinal cord remained fixed.
Thanks to the help of kind hearts and a great friend of the foundation who completely closed the girl's collection, we were able to make another miracle.
On June 20, 2024, Dr. Rohkind performed a flawless surgery at Assuta Clinic and freed the girl's spinal cord from roots, lipoma and abnormal tissue. According to the results of neuromonitoring after the treatment, the girl had impulses where there were none before.
A huge thank you to every kind hearted person who helped us make a difference in a little girl's life!
