On February 20, in the Israeli clinic Assuta, Professor Shimon Rohkind and his team performed an important and complicated operation on our little girl. Everything was done as planned and even more.
Balaiym was born with a congenital spinal condition - Spina bifida. For this reason, her spinal cord and nerve roots were trapped and constricted. In addition, she had a dangerous dermal sinus, because of which an infection could go directly to the spinal cord at any time.
The professor very carefully freed all the nerve roots, completely removing this dangerous area. The spinal cord was immediately free - there was a normal pulsation and proper fluid movement around it. Plastic surgeon Dina Gupstein helped to close everything in such a way to protect the spinal cord and strengthen the area around it.
Professor Rohkind and Dr. Gupstein were very pleased with the result, Balayim is already moving her legs, everything was done correctly.
The doctors visit the baby every day and confirm that the result is excellent. Her legs should now feel much better and the risk of dangerous complications has been greatly reduced.
We really believe that thanks to this operation Balayim will be able to take her first steps, be less tired and enjoy every day without pain and fear. This is a huge and very important step forward for her!
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone who helped raise funds for Balayim's treatment. Your support, even the smallest, made this operation possible. You gave our sunny little girl a chance for a healthy and happy childhood!
