spina bifida
Age: 3 years

Aibat Yergali was born in the city of Atyrau (Kazakhstan) and became the youngest of four children in a friendly family. The boy is cheerful, curious and very active, loves to play, run and explore the world. Despite the severe diagnosis of spina bifida, Aibat is already able to walk independently - he took his first steps at the age of 1 year and 2 months, which was a great joy for the whole family.

Aibat has a lipomyelomeningocele, a complex form of spina bifida, when a fatty tumor (lipoma) is tightly fused to the spinal cord and nerve roots. Because of this, fixation - a condition in which the spinal cord is stretched with every centimeter of growth of the child - has occurred.

The boy has already undergone two surgeries in Kazakhstan, but local doctors have not been able to remove the lipoma completely and free the nerve roots. Now the spinal cord tension is progressing, and Aibat is experiencing alarming symptoms: his legs get tired quickly even with a little activity, there are pains, the boy often begs for his hands, and there are problems with controlling urination and stool. If the spinal cord surgery is not performed in the next few months, the tension will increase, which will inevitably lead to serious bladder and bowel disorders, chronic pain and disability.

The only chance to save Aibat from irreversible consequences, to preserve the health of his legs and normal organ function is a high-precision surgery with the leading Israeli neurosurgeon Shimon Rohkind at Assuta Medical Center. He specializes specifically in complex cases of spina bifida in children.

The cost of Aybat's treatment is €53,241. For a family where the father works as a dispatcher for the heating network and the mother has to constantly care for their son, this is an insurmountable sum.

Aibat's life is just beginning. He wants to run around with his brothers and sisters, play without pain and fatigue, and grow up healthy and happy. An operation with Shimon Rohkind can make a big difference in Aibat's life.

The Aybat operation took place May 1, 2026 and it was successful! But we didn't manage to collect the full amount needed for the boy's treatment, so we issued a guarantee letter from the foundation so that the boy's planned surgery could still take place.

The professor described Aibat's surgery as very difficult but very successful. His leg impulses and bladder function improved, along with many other indicators.

Thank you so much to everyone who has already supported the fundraiser for Aybat's treatment. We have managed to change the boy's life for the better. Now we have an important task ahead of us — until May 15 Settle debt to the clinic in the amount of €31,321.
