Evelina is the long-awaited and only child in the family. She studies at school, loves books about nature, knows many species of birds, and dreams of becoming an ornithologist to treat and save birds.

From the very beginning, Eveline had to face serious difficulties. She suffered severe hypoxia at birth, which resulted in brain damage. Throughout her life, the girl has been struggling with muscle spasticity, regularly undergoing rehabilitation and physical therapy.

In 2021, Evelina underwent SDR neurosurgery and subsequent rehabilitation, which she was able to access thanks to you and the support of our foundation. Today, Evelina can walk independently. Behind every step she takes are years of immense effort. However, now, during a period of intense growth, the girl's muscles and tendons are not keeping pace with her bones. Contractures have formed – persistent shortening of muscles, which restrict movement and gradually negate the results of years of treatment.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for Eveline to walk, stand, go up and down stairs, and maintain her balance outdoors. She tires more quickly, falls more often, and has become more dependent on adult help.

At an in-person consultation, pediatric orthopedic surgeon Nikolaos Rigopoulos recommended soft tissue surgery within the next six months. In the doctor's opinion, this will help eliminate contractures, preserve motor skills, and prevent the development of severe deformities.

If the surgery is postponed, Evelina's condition will worsen, and the changes will be so severe that she will have to use a wheelchair.

The cost of the surgery is 24,000 euros. This amount is beyond the means of Evelina's family, as only the father works.
