Meet Timofey, a 10-year-old boy originally from the Luhansk region of Ukraine, specifically Rubizhne city, who now resides in St. Petersburg, Russia. His parents made the decision to settle in this city for a specific reason: Timofey suffers from a disability that has required ongoing medical attention since a very early age.

Timofey's birth occurred at 38 weeks of gestation, marked by a swift but complicated delivery. As a result of intrauterine hypoxia and birth trauma, he developed various health challenges, including cervical subluxation, limb hypertonia, tremors, and gastrointestinal issues. These difficulties also led to damage to his brain and nervous system, and at the age of 3, he was officially diagnosed with a disability.

In medical terminology, Timofey's diagnosis falls under the code G 93.8, which denotes "Other specified brain and nervous system disorders." Specifically, he has residual encephalopathy with autistic spectrum behaviour, and these are just a few of the many health issues he faces.

For a considerable period of time, Timofey couldn’t speak and was unable to eat independently, confronting numerous physical and psychological hurdles. However, through extensive assessments and nearly daily rehabilitation, which is ongoing, Timofey's condition began to improve. By the age of 5, he had started speaking, marking a significant milestone. Unfortunately, the joy of these achievements was short-lived. At the age of 6, Timofey faced a new challenge—a cyst was discovered in his brain during an MRI scan. By putting pressure on the cerebellum, the cyst posed a life-threatening risk, necessitating surgical removal.

The surgery yielded positive results in Timofey's development, with the autistic spectrum symptoms receding. Nevertheless, it brought forth new complications, such as seizure-like headaches, vomiting, food intolerance, and immunodeficiency. These complications have been tormenting this bright and resilient young boy, depriving him of the simple joys of life. Over the past four years, his parents have spared no effort in seeking help, consulting with top specialists in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, the exact cause of his current condition has remained elusive to these experts.

In a desperate quest for answers and solutions, Timofey's family has turned to the medical professionals at the San Joan de Déu Children's Hospital in Barcelona. An examination there, which is crucial for Timofey's future, comes with a cost of 6,000 euros.
