Sasha Sadcovschii fell ill when he was only six months old. At such a young age, he went through things that not every adult could endure.
In just a few years, he faced three strokes, a severe form of COVID-19, epileptogenic encephalopathy, and hundreds of seizures every day. His body is exhausted. But Sasha has already come a long way and continues to bravely fight for his health. Last year, he underwent his first surgery. Now he urgently needs a second surgical intervention at the Teknon Clinic in Barcelona.
How it all began
Until six months old, Sasha was growing as a perfectly healthy child, bringing joy to his mom and dad. But one day, the entire left side of his body stopped functioning. While the family was waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test, Sasha began having seizures.
The diagnosis was terrifying: coronavirus, meningitis, encephalitis, and a stroke caused by the viral infection.
“Sasha is so weak that he looks like a doll.”
The most severe consequence of the illness was drug-resistant epilepsy. Sasha went through every possible treatment protocol and tried many medications, but nothing helped. The number of epileptic seizures reached up to 200 per day.
In 2024, his parents managed to raise the funds for Sasha’s first surgery on their own. Doctors removed part of the epileptic foci in his brain. Since then, the seizures have become weaker and decreased to around 50 per day, and his condition has stabilized.
But Sasha still cannot sit, stand, crawl, or hold his head. His parents feed him puréed food and give him water from a bottle. He constantly struggles with high blood pressure, has renal artery stenosis, spastic tetraparesis, and arterial hypertension.
The only chance – surgery at Teknon Clinic
During the first operation, it was impossible to remove all epileptic foci. That is why the second surgery is critically important and must be performed as soon as possible. With every seizure, Sasha’s brain continues to deteriorate, losing its chances of recovery. There is hope that after treatment, the healthy part of his brain will take over the functions of the damaged areas, allowing the boy to begin recovering.
The second operation is already scheduled for mid-January. The family is raising funds through several foundations. The Together Forever Foundation has joined the effort to help collect the remaining €10,000.
"We dream of our son being able to play with other children in the sandbox, swing on the playground, and live without pain. To hear the cherished words ‘mama’ and ‘papa’. This dream keeps us going and does not let us give up,"
Sasha’s father shares with hope.
