Azretali is a kind, active, and determined teenager from Almaty. He is 16 years old, studying at school, preparing for exams, and dreaming of becoming an air traffic controller to make a positive impact on the world. Until recently, he was actively involved in sports — but one injury changed his life.

In April 2022, during a judo training session, Azretali fell and fractured the radial bone in his left forearm. He underwent surgery, and metal pins were inserted. But already the next day, his parents noticed that his left hand wasn’t moving. Later, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic radial nerve damage, which led to complete paralysis of his left hand.

That’s when the fight began. EMG showed no activity in the muscles. A nerve repair surgery was performed, but it turned out to be superficial and brought no improvement. For an entire year, Azretali underwent intensive rehabilitation — physical therapy, physiotherapy, massage, electrical stimulation — all without meaningful progress.

Doctors from Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, China, South Korea, and Uzbekistan all offered the same solution: muscle transplant. But this method can only restore limited movement. And Azretali’s parents refused to give up.

Hope came unexpectedly — during a consultation with Professor Shimon Rochkind, a world-renowned Israeli neurosurgeon specializing in nerve reconstruction. The professor saw potential and gave the family hope: he is confident he can fully restore hand function. But time is running out — nearly 4 years have passed since the injury, and the chances are fading with each day.

The surgery costs €45,000. The family has already managed to raise more than half of this amount. Only €10,000 is left to go. For an ordinary family in Kazakhstan, this is a huge sum. But together, we can help them take this final step toward recovery.
