Throughout the pregnancy, the parents were expecting a perfectly healthy baby — all tests and ultrasounds showed no abnormalities. The diagnosis was revealed only after Nariman was born.

At the age of three months, he underwent a highly complex surgery in Astana (Kazakhstan) to remove a spinal hernia and close a skin defect. He was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, myelomeningocele, and dysfunction of the urinary and bowel systems.

Now, despite undergoing multiple rehabilitation courses, Nariman’s condition is worsening — his ability to walk is limited, the function of his urinary and gastrointestinal systems is deteriorating, and he is developing finger contractures in both feet along with muscle wasting in the lower legs.

The mother is raising three children on her own, but she managed to collect almost the entire amount for the treatment by herself.

Thanks to your kind hearts, we were able to raise the remaining amount in time.

July 11th, Nariman Bakytzhan underwent complex neurosurgery at the Assuta clinic in Israel. The surgery lasted for 8 hours. Professor Shimon Rochkind carefully separated and released the spinal nerve roots from adhesions with soft tissues.

Immediately after the operation, encouraging results appeared: very strong signals began to be recorded in the right leg (at a level of 1000, whereas athletes typically have around 2000), the signals in the left leg slightly improved, and weak signals from the urinary system also started to show. According to Professor Rochkind, this is a very good result.

Now, Nariman Bakytzhan will have to spend about a month and a half in a lying position. We sincerely wish him a smooth and speedy recovery!

Huge thanks to everyone who responded quickly and helped him receive this life-saving treatment on time.
